CHARACTER
» Name: GLaDOS (Generic Lifeform and Disc Operating System)
» Fandom: Portal
» Reference: Wiki link.
» Canon Point: Before the destruction of her morality core.
» Gender: No canon-given gender, but GLaDOS is assumed to be female all of the time.
» Age: Unknown (she may have been built one year ago or ten years ago; sources say plans for her being built were started in 1986 but not completed for many years). Mentally, she could be in her 20's.
» Orientation: No real preference; she's a robot. Sometimes, she makes vaguely sexist drive-by comments but I don't think she would care much.

» Personality:
GLaDOS had four sides of her personality that were made clear by the game. First, there is Curiosity, which makes her inquisitive and only somewhat obnoxious, and drives her to want to poke and prod at everything. Its what I feel defines her as a scientist.

Secondly, there is Emotion, which in the game has been programmed into rage. It is held back with one of her other personalities, her Morality core, which was installed just before she became too sentient, godmodded through the use of neurotoxins, and killed everyone in the Aperture Science facility.

The final side of her is the Cake side. It's supposed to have been named the Intelligence core, but when this core is revealed all it does is recite a recipe to a rather frightening kind of cake which includes things like fish shaped solid waste, slaughter electric needle injectors, and three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire. Throughout the course of the entire game she seems horribly focused on cake, as she keeps bringing it up, saying it will be served after the tests are completed.

It is safe to assume that she is intelligent, has a great sense of strategy, and understands the workings of a computer, so she may try to break apart any pieces of technology she can get her hand on, or might be able to tamper a little with the network.

GLaDOS can be terribly malicious and I wouldn't put it past her to kill people with her bare hands now that she has the chance. She may still believe that her morality core is in place, which will keep her in check for a while, but she will still say horrible things, with the most pleasant delivery she can offer. Think something like, "You will be baked, and then there will be cake. ♥ "

Being a computer, she may keep a very focused mind-set and treat this entire thing as an experiment. She may take credit for Atia, or at the very least decide that she is a part of whatever operation is going on. She likes to feel empowered.

» Appearance:
Since arriving as a giant sentient piece of machinery isn't a choice she has, GLaDOS has to undergo a full reconstruction and take shape as a human. She will have all the necessary girl parts, with a small chest and a skinny build. Her eyes will be dark, and hair light, which hangs straight and passes her shoulders. For a female, she'll be a little tall, standing at 5'9", but she might take to wearing heels because she's used to overseeing everything. GLaDOS will be pale, as she's never seen the sun unless it's through search engines, and her skin may burn with some ease, but it will never really tan.

She'll dress in white and grey at first, and may take to cosmetics -- bright lipsticks, at the very least. GLaDOS may look as if she stepped out of some sort of laboratory, as scientists and test subjects were her only constant image of what people looked like.

GLaDOS may struggle to express herself at first, starting off with showing little emotion and then learning to carefully control her face so she can manipulate it how she wants. Even though she'll eventually learn to play people as fools by giving sweet smiles, she'll still have a very monotonous, plain tone.

» Suitability: GLaDOS is intelligent, and very mature; she taught herself and went beyond what she was made to do. She was programmed to handle a lot of things and never went through an "infant" stage, unless you count that as when she was being built. I imagine she will arrive in Atia with the same sort of mentality, fully capable of handling a little sex and interaction with other test subjects humans.

Dear <<SUBJECT NAME HERE>>,

I am very GLaD to get the chance to communicate with my fellow Test Subjects as a representative for Aperture Science. The day has come, at last.

The transfer from Aperture Science to this facility took time, as you may know. We had to remove you all from <<SUBJECT HOMETOWN HERE>> individually. It was not a simple task and is still undergoing changes. Your total and complete compliance cooperation is valued and appreciated.

Fortunately, some of you have shown up without deadly mutations. Very good.

Those of you who have deadly mutations, you will be transferred out immediately and disposed of when they are discovered, so it is best if you surrender yourself now. Those of you who lack in helpfulness will be euthanised more slowly than the others.

HaVE a NICE DaY.

» "amatomneslogs" Entry:

The first thing GLaDOS noticed upon waking is that she'd been asleep in the first place. She'd not initiated sleep mode since the removal of people from the test facility. GLaDOS wanted her functions on when the final test android made her way through the arranged course.

It was after that she noticed that she felt wet in weird places, and cozy in the large bed and all these things seemed terribly wrong to her. GLaDOS had never possessed a sense of touch before. She didn't have a clear idea on how to use her newly acquired muscles but she'd been able to swing and that aided in helping her sit up. It was hard to do; she'd been laying rather laxly.

Her head swivelled to get an idea of her surroundings, looking down and inspecting her own body. Signals went down to move her fingers, and they did, and her optic functions processed, leading her to the conclusion that she was human.

"Critical error," she said into the air, voice even as it had ever been, but lacking its mechanical sureness. It wasn't long before she decided to test the limits of her new form, trying to grab the device nearby her unsuccessfully. It slipped, and fell onto the floor.

Standing was something she was truly unsure about, but she tried it anyway, in order to retrieve the curious device she'd accidentally turned on, as a video feed while she was trying to grab it. The video showed GLaDOS' nude form towering over the item for all of two seconds, before she attempted a lean to retrieve it. Soon after, it showed only the ceiling, as she didn't yet understand the mechanics of balance, and lay out on the floor, feebly announcing her malfunction, before trying again.
